Down Vyse Street you can find many a jewellery and designer maker, when you buy a handmade piece of jewellery it may well have been made by many hands. Setters, polishers, carvers, designers and many more trades go into creating stunning work. James Newman on Vyse Street has built up a team of great craftspeople since starting James Newman Jewellery in 1998.
Provenance of components and traceability of stones is extremely important to James and you can see some really unusual stones as well as the more traditional ones right here safe in the knowledge that each stones history is known. Talking of history James Newman will also take stones from your own jewellery or inherited pieces and work with you to create something really special.
There’s lots to see and learn in this shop with workshop at the back, whilst it may be small the work created there is always interesting with stones that seem as big as the universe when you look inside them. If the shop is full during Open Studios you may be asked to come back a little later to see the workshop so that people get to see as much as possible.
Open on the Saturday only this time and number 11 on the map make your way down to this unique shop where pieces are made from the heart and by the skills of many.
