Canals, Coffins and Quarterworkshop – venue 18

Nearest Tram – St Pauls. Best Bus route – 87 or 101 for Newhall Street.

A canal runs through the middle of the Jewellery Quarter making it a great place to explore the area and a short cut to exciting destinations. One such destination is the Quarterworkshop where as well as seeing some finely crafted jewellery you can also learn how you can make your very own ring.

The Quarterworkshop is situated in the yard of the Coffin Works which is a fantastic heritage space that celebrates all things funereal. On Saturday 29th they will be running a free family drop in workshop called Casting Creations where you can learn all about the sand casting technique.

So how do we get there we hear you cry? The best way to get to the venue is to follow the canal from Ludgate a short distance from St Pauls Square, turn right and walk up the canal admiring the work completed by The Jewellery Quarter Neighbourhood Forum who have adopted this stretch of the canal, those locks are looking great! You will come to a white bridge cross the bridge and you are on to Fleet Street, continue on down the street for Coffin Works on your left.

Located in the courtyard of the fantastic Coffin Works Museum The Quarterworkshop specialises in running creative workshops and events including make your own wedding ring!

No more than 10 minutes from St Pauls Square a trip down to The Quarterworkshop will enable you to see a traditional jewellers workshop and teaching space in the heart of an industrial museum. (steep stairs)
